Seedings and Schedule Set!
The seedings and schedule for all three divisions of the 2007 UPA Youth Club Championships are set. Seattle locked in the top spots in the Open and Girls divisions on the strength of past YCC performances and the reputation of players on the national high school scene. But there are plenty of other players and teams with the ability and desire to knock off the top teams. With all 8 teams guaranteed to go through to the quarterfinals in the Open Division, a shot at the title will be earned on the field. In the Girls Division, a last minute drop out leaves the field with 7 teams and a round-robin format leading into finals. The two-time reigning champs from Seattle will be looking for a three-peat, but will face stiff competition from the fast-improving Girls teams from other Ultimate hotbeds. In the Mixed Division, Atlanta and Philly start off at the top, with the players from some of the best high school teams in the country looking to face off. But the round-robin format ensures that every team will get to go head to head with every other team. With only the top two advancing to the finals, starting Saturday morning every game and even every point will count. One week to go til the teams take the field. If you can't make it out to the event, keep up with all the action on the tournament results page.
